What can a Write Tuesday do for you? It is an inspiration to write. You can have a write anything day. At first it feels so wide open to have a time to write about whatever you want to write. Once you get past the blank page, you just start writing. (Tip: If you don’t like the whiteness, then type your name or nnnn––now it’s not blank!)
Today I was thinking about distractions. Honestly, I think distractions are annoying. A distraction is something that takes my attention away from something else––typically something I want to do––but then I don’t remember because I was distracted. Occasionally distractions are something better than what I was doing. In that case, I consider it a serendipity; it’s an unexpected happy event.
How can a distraction become serendipity? Once I quit being so annoyed with distractions, I noticed the many ways a distraction can actually be something unexpected and helpful. Distractions can be helpful in writing a novel, preparing for a job interview, getting up to move around after sitting too long, etc. There are many times a distraction can help the mind work in a different more helpful way. I will be exploring some of these on Write Tuesdays. Join me and let me know when your distractions are serendipities, or any other topic that might come across your mind. Find ways to color your Tuesdays with writing.
