Write Tuesday

It’s a great day to start a Write Tuesday series. You are welcome to join me and comment with a short writing on this post or better yet, join the “Inspiring Writing Group” on Linkedin and write more.

What can a Write Tuesday do for you? It is an inspiration to write. You can have a write anything day. At first it feels so wide open to have a time to write about whatever you want to write. Once you get past the blank page, you just start writing. (Tip: If you don’t like the whiteness, then type your name or nnnn––now it’s not blank!)

Today I was thinking about distractions. Honestly, I think distractions are annoying. A distraction is something that takes my attention away from something else––typically something I want to do––but then I don’t remember because I was distracted. Occasionally distractions are something better than what I was doing. In that case, I consider it a serendipity; it’s an unexpected happy event.

How can a distraction become serendipity? Once I quit being so annoyed with distractions, I noticed the many ways a distraction can actually be something unexpected and helpful. Distractions can be helpful in writing a novel, preparing for a job interview, getting up to move around after sitting too long, etc. There are many times a distraction can help the mind work in a different more helpful way. I will be exploring some of these on Write Tuesdays. Join me and let me know when your distractions are serendipities, or any other topic that might come across your mind. Find ways to color your Tuesdays with writing.

Join a fun group with the purpose of inspiring you to write. Share your writing and get positive responses. Comment on what you liked or felt about the writing that is posted. Write your story (about you, the season, a Flash Fiction Story), excerpt, article or blog post then share a paragraph (4 sentences or less) in the Linkedin group with a link to the rest of your writing. See who will open your link and comment on your story or writing piece. They are the audience you want to reach out to. Each week I will post a prompt. Write about the prompt each week if possible. In my weekly Inspiring Writing Group, we were inspired by a prompt, and enjoyed seeing all the different styles of writing about it. Can’t wait to see what you have to share.

Just a few rules:
  • Be polite.
  • Be positive.
  • Bleep offensive language from your story.
  • If you want to share a link to a product or service, put it in your story. What’s your story? Whatever you want to write about.
This is a moderated group to protect the group from spam and unsolicited marketing. We want to maintain the creative intent of the group. Offensive language (at the discretion of the moderator) will not be accepted. Members will be deleted for continued offenses.

To join the Linkedin “Inspiring Writing Group,”
In the Search window type, “Inspiring Writing Group”
On the tab below the search window go to “Groups”

As soon as you are accepted into the group then,
Go to the group and introduce yourself.
